NextGen: The Next Generation of Adult Disciples

NextGen is Gather Lynchburg’s newly launched young adult ministry for 18-39 years-old in Central Virginia. We provide small group settings to promote discipleship, spiritual growth, and authentic fellowship/friendships. NextGen helps young adults to navigate faith, relationships, careers, and life challenges.

When and Where NextGen Gathers?
  • Starting Aug. 23, 2026, the 2nd and 4th Sunday night of each month (6 PM – 8 PM).
  • At the home of Rich & Adele Previte (GL Elders). For address and directions, email info@gatherlynchburg or phone (434) 845-0200.
  • Sometimes we meet at Gather Lynchburg (3135 Fort Ave, Lynchburg, VA 24502).

What Happens at NextGen Gatherings? 
  • Food, fellowship, worship, Bible study/discussion, and prayer.
  • Emphasis on discipleship and authentic fellowship and friendships.
  • Once a quarter we plan to have larger events (e.g., with other young adult ministries or churches, a night of worship/prayer, holiday event, etc.,) or community service. Possible Mission trips in the future.

NextGen Welcome All Young Adults (18–39-year-old)
  • We welcome young adults from diverse backgrounds, races, experiences, education levels, careers, and social status.
  • Although NextGen is committed to Biblical values, we welcome all young adults (believers, seekers, skeptics, non-believers, and those of different faiths/worldviews.
  • You don’t need to belong to Gather Lynchburg (or any church) to attend.
  • We ask that everyone be considerate of our Biblical values and be respectful to all who attend.
NextGen’s Purpose
  • For young adults To Know God and To Make Him Known.
NextGen’s Vision
  • We lead young adults to connect to the transforming power of new life in Christ.
  • We disciple young adults to grow into mature, spiritually reproducing followers of Christ.
  • We equip young adults to serve His Kingdom and His Church (the whole body of believers in Jesus Christ and in their specific local churches they gather in).
  • We release young adults to go and fulfill their God-ordained purpose.

NextGen’s Values
  • Scripture (particularly Acts 2:42-47) gives us a Biblical pattern for the priorities and practices of the New Testament Church.

NextGen’s Beliefs
  • NextGen (in a snapshot is) …Christian, Protestant, Evangelical, Pentecostal, and Charismatic.
  • As a ministry of Gather Lynchburg (an Assemblies of God church in Lynchburg, VA), NextGen reflects the same Christ centered beliefs. See our Statement of Faith at https://gatherlynchburg.org/about/our-beliefs
  • Faith in Action: As NextGen grows, we plan to have community service events and sponsor mission trips.
NextGen’s Leadership & Accountability
  • Rich Previte and Adele Previte (Gather Lynchburg Elders) serve as the Coordinators.
  • Our goal is “to equip his people for works of service” (Eph 4:12). Our role is to disciple young adults to be spiritually mature and mentor them to develop their gifts for leadership in NextGen (e.g., lead activities, worship, Bible studies/discussions, prayer, etc.).
  • As a ministry of Gather Lynchburg, NextGen is also accountable to Pastor/Lead Elder Ron Cannon and the church Elders of the Leadership Team.
